My Cerulean Heart's first review

From the ever wonderful RAVE magazine on our first ever set as My Cerulean Heart @ the amazing Lady Electronica
"For this showcase of diverse electronic music with a female touch, Dizzygotheca are as appropriate an opening act as one could imagine. The most austere music of the night, the now four-piece group also unveil their new name. Now called My Cerulean Heart, frontwoman Heidi Millington explains to the audience they were seeking a “less industrial” title, while their celebratory on-stage make-up reveals the blue-green shade of their new moniker. Particularly striking is synth wizard Anthony Smith, looking like an electro version of Mayhem’s Attila Csihar. With looped live violin, two-part female harmonies and sounds that veer from dark folktronica to Goldfrapp synth-glam, the newly christened MCH are as musically adventurous as ever."

to protect the innocent?
Well, i have to welcome you all to the very first post on this site as My Cerulean Heart. We offically changed the band name at our last gig at the globe and we could not be happier with it. It evokes more hope, beauty and has a poetic touch that the, while awesome, Dizzygothcea just could not compete with.
It has also ushured in a line up change, with the amazing Fflur joining MCH on a pernament basis, as well as solidifying the theatrical side of the band. Fflur will be the lady when it comes to beautiful vocals and sweetness, and she also does a mean water sprinkler solo.
Unforunately the amazing Richard G cannot play with us anymore due to his being in far too many bands :D and we bid him a warm adue! We are currently looking for a fourth member to replace Rich.. someone who plays viola or violin! So if you do.. or know someone.. be sure to pass this info on!!
Expect the site to go through a few changes over the next few weeks as it gets re-jigged to match the band name..
Long live My Cerulean Heart!

Widget Added to homepage
Thursday, 11 February 2010 17:01 | Written by anthony |
Ok, now when the website opens up a Dizzygotheca popup appears with our tracks, videos and tunes on it. Its our Reverb Nation widget and looks pretty slick, and will also give people more access to our stuff direct from the site.
I really wish i could embed it into the music page but alas, the failings of the brilliant joomla show through and it wont work.
Maybe one day ill figure out how to do it.
I digress, it will possibly be blocked by your browser, but if you feel you want to check it out you can click here

Did we mention we love Rave?

Thanks so much to Matt and Rave Magazine for posting an amazing review of our EP - A Little Closer To The Truth! You can check it here or continue reading below :D
A healthy dose of local darktronica
Brisbane duo Heidi Millington and Anthony Smith are the city’s premier exponents of electronic music seemingly composed with a quill. As Dizzygotheca, the pair use electronics to make music that is as folky and mystical as it is modern. On new six-track EP A Little Closer To The Truth, they immerse themselves in mantras and chilled, chilling washes of electronic noise. Opening track Sky Over Israel blends haunting voices with an ominous undercurrent, before the minimalist pulse of Little Beat combines almost a cappella moments with sub-aquatic sonics. Sand Or Set could be one of the desolate lullabies of This Mortal Coil, while I’m Here To Rescue You is part cyber torch ballad, part Burroughsian electro-jazz. The lush electronic burbles and swishes of Between Horses And Trees provide the most chilled-out moment, before closer 313 – like a sparser take on Goldfrapp’s fetishist grooves. The sheer amount of intriguing ideas on these six tracks confirms Dizzygotheca’s inventive approach to their deliciously dark art.

A consolidation of what their first EP 'Holding Pattern' promised, 'A Little Closer To The Truth' has drawn comparisons with Paradise Motel, Bat for Lashes, Goldfrapp and Bjork. With tracks produced by locals Lawrence English, Joe Panetta, Wernher Pramschufer and Brendan Watterson, as well as Dizzygotheca.

QSong + UQ + Sydney + ElectroStatik Vol. 1
Friday, 15 August 2008 02:28 | Written by anthony |
We are very pleased and excited to let you know that with our track 'Little Beat' we are shortlisted as a Q Song finalist in the New Music / Electronic category. It's wonderful to get this recognition in our music genre. We'll find out the winners at the 2008 Q Song Awards Cermony at the Tivoli Theatre on August 12th, 2008. It's exciting to be up against one of our local heroes, sound artist Lawrence English, as well as Misinterprotato drummer John 'Oxford' Parker and dance electronica boys Christopher Robin. If you'd like to listen to the other nominees in ours and many other categories, the website to check out is www.qsong.com.au. You'll find some great music there.
We're also heading to Sydney! Brisbane is losing the lovely Kristine from Imagination Revolutions, and as part of her move to Sydney, she's putting on a show up here and a show down there. It's the 'Social Assassin Tour'. Doing the trip with us are Brisbane bands Empty Art and the The Mercy Dolls. We'll be at the Red Room at UQ, St Lucia, on Friday July 25th and then playing at The Lansdowne Hotel (2-6 City Rd Chippendale) in Sydney on Saturday July 26th. The Red Room show is $5 entry and we are on at 9 pm (doors open at 6). Not sure about set times for the Lansdowne but entry there is free. So let your Sydney friends know to come see us! It's kindly presented by Imagination Revolutions (http://www.myspace.com/imaginationrevolutions) and Under the Blue Moon Festival (http://www.underthebluemoon.org.au/).
We've also just been included on our first international compilation CD. We were invited to include a track and so 'No I have not told anyone about us' is on the electronic music compilation CD 'ElectroStatik Vol. 1' just put out by 272 Records in the USA. If you would like to get a copy and open you ears to some other great electronic music, the website is http://www.272records.com/272_Records/ElectroStatik_Vol._1.html.
One last thing... Anthony has been working hard on mixing and editing tracks for our next EP. To see what he means by 'Recording Shoes' check out the blog on our website (www.dizzygotheca.com). Cute, I know. I want a pair. :)
